Schools - libraries - advice and training

The school library service provides loan collections of books and resources to support the teaching of the National Curriculum in Primary and special schools (Foundation Stage to Key Stage 2) as well as advice, consultancy and training for school staff to ensure that the school library is central to learning and supports the curriculum in their schools.

The Service is a traded service and is offered as a subscription on a per pupil basis. A subscription to the service provides access to:
Project Loans Service: collections of up to 30 books on topics studied by the class or year group.
Guided reading sets.
Fiction collection matched to Nation al Curriculum topics.
Dual/community language collections.
“Pick a Winner” new book collections.
Advice and support on any aspect of use of books in schools and school libraries.
Themed displays.
Practical assistance with re-organisation of the school library (May be subject to additional charges).
Service Level Agreements are signed with subscribing schools with details of a full service specification.

There is also a Schools Library Service Early Years service available to playgroups, pre-schools and Children’s Centres. This service is also a traded service for a flat rate subscription of £35 per academic year.

Eligibility
Primary and special schools for the SLS
Pre-schools, playgroups and Children’s centres for the SLS (Early Years Service).
