Schools Library Service
Supporting the Curriculum the Cost Effective Way
How We Can Help You
The Schools Library Service for Enfield schools provides a range of materials no school on its own could provide for itself.
Our extensive Project Loan Collection can provide teachers with resources to meet the needs of the National Curriculum for Key Stages 1 and 2.
We provide all schools with the opportunity to select and buy books from our Exhibition Collection and we are always able to offer professional advice and support to teachers.
Services We Provide
An Exhibition of the best currently available children's fiction, non fiction and picture books from which you can choose and buy for your own school and classroom libraries.
Attendance for Primary School teachers at our Pick A Winner book reviewing sessions, held four times a year.
Attendance at our once a term networking meeting for teachers responsible for the maintenance of their school library.
Access to our Teachers' Support Collection of books and pamphlets on education.
Advice and training on any aspect of the use of books in schools and school libraries and, where required, weeding and classifying of your school library using the Dewey Decimal Classification Scheme with specially produced colour-coding.
Information and advice on books and reading, including a list of recommended Best Books for Children.
Project Loan Service
A Project Loan can include books for the topic your class is studying for a period of a term or half term, matched to the reading age you specify.
It can also include videos, posters, slides and project packs.
We can provide you with collections of Guided Reading sets, SATS sets, playsets, poetry and fairy and folk tales.
The Project Fiction Collection has been created to enhance Project Loans with storybooks to support National Curriculum topics. The collection includes fiction for infant and junior aged children, with a range of picture books and longer stories.
Our aim is to make each project Collection as relevant to your needs as possible.
Project Boxes are delivered to and collected from your school.
