Elections - proxy votes

Provision of a facility whereby people who cannot attend the polling station (usually for reasons of ill-health or employment) on an election day can nominate another person who will vote on their behalf. The proxy must be eligible to vote in the election themself in order to act on behalf of another person.

A registered voter who cannot attend in person to vote at a polling station and is either unwilling or unable to vote by post may apply for a proxy facility. The proxy, who must be able to vote in that type of election, then votes on the electors behalf at the polling station, or on further application, by post on their behalf.

Eligibility
The elector must be registered to vote, and the proxy must be entitled to vote at that type of election.
