Playsupply - Interview Observation and Guidance Training

Training and support is currently being offered to all childcare providers who are responsible for recruitment and selection for their setting.

The training is offered on a one to one basis and will involve the Childcare recruitment Project Co-ordinator coming along to your setting when you have scheduled interviews. The Co-ordinator will assess your current interview style, technique and questions. The support is offered to you in confidence.

The purpose of this type of training is to:

• Observe your interview style.
• The types of questions that you ask.
• Whether those questions are relevant and receive the answers you are looking for.
• How you plan which questions to ask.
• How you short list.
• To give you honest, open and non-judgmental advice on your current style.
• To provide one to one advice and guidance on improvements that can be made.
• Offer different ideas on interview techniques.
• An outsider’s point of view.
• A full written report of the findings

The purpose is not to:

• Get involved with the interview.
• Speak to the applicant about the role.
• Pass judgment on the applicant and whether or not they would be suitable.
• Be involved in the recruitment decision in any way.

The aim of this training is:

• To provide support and guidance to each provider on a one to one basis.
• To give individual advice and guidance.
• To provide support and ideas of new ways of interviewing.
• To give an impartial opinion on your current recruitment techniques.

As part of the training each provider will receive:

• A thorough report of the findings and observations.
• The strengths noted.
• The weaknesses noted.
• Improvements I would suggest.
• An action plan.

Please note this is a trial course, which is being offered. It is strictly on a first come first serve basis. Depending on volume of interest and other commitments it may mean that the Co-ordinator may not be able to make an interview. Therefore the more notice given the better. The Co-ordinator will always confirm in writing whether she is able to attend or not.
