Playsupply – Qualification Guidelines for Play - Work

OfSTED Requirements

Play Work Managers / Supervisors
Must have at least a Level 3 qualification appropriate to the post, plus 2 years working knowledge in a childcare setting.

Play Workers
Must have a Level 2 Childcare qualification.

50% of all staff in settings must be appropriately qualified.

Below is a list of appropriate qualifications for both posts.

Play Work Manager / Supervisor
Minimum of a Level 3 Qualification required

• CACHE Diploma in Play Work
• NCFE Advanced Certificate in Play Work
• CACHE Certificate of Professional Development in Work with Children and Young People
• NVQ 3 in Play Work

Play Worker
Level 2 Qualification Required

• CACHE Certificate in Play Work
• ABC Certificate in Play Work
• NCFE Intermediate Certificate in Play Work
• NVQ 2 in Play Work
• NCFE Intermediate Certificate in Developing Skills with Children and Young People
• Take 10 for play – Kids Club Network

Childcare qualifications may be accepted in a Play Work Setting if the participant can provide evidence of on-going professional development in the Play Work field.
