Death - Mortuaries

The mortuary service handles deaths that have been referred to the coroner or deaths where no death certificate can be issued.

The Register Office does not have responsibility for this service and are unable to offer advice regarding this. All enquiries regarding this subject can be referred to the Register Office who will redirect the customer or to the Coroner’s Office.

Eligibility
• Relative of deceased;
• A person present at the death;
• The occupier of the house or institution where the death took place if there are no known relatives; or
• A person arranging the funeral (i.e. instructing the Funeral Director.)

Required Customer Information
• Will depend on the particular circumstance.

Service Level Agreement and Turnaround
No specific time scales.
