Schools - school boards

School governors work with the staff, local authority and/or other relevant body to run schools and are responsible for managing the school budget, overseeing the curriculum and appointing staff. The LA provides information and support for prospective and existing governors about their roles and responsibilities as well as clerking support to ensure that governors’ meetings are run effectively and efficiently. The Service also administers the training of school governors.

The Clerking Service is provided according to a service agreement. A copy is attached which outlines the costs involved. The Service specification for the Governor Training element of the service is outlined in the course booklet provided termly by CPD (School Improvement Service).

Eligibility
You need to complete a declaration of eligibility form and return it to Governor Support Service.

Required Customer Information
Identification documents: UK passport, photo or paper driving licence.

Service Level Agreement and Turnaround
There are separate service agreements for the clerking and training aspects of the service. The service performance indicators are general ones.
