Care - shared care for adults

Short-term care can be provided for adults who need care and support and the people who care for them to enable people to have a break. The care can vary in length from a few hours up to a maximum of two weeks at a time and can be provided through Direct Payments or through agencies approved by Adult Social Services to provide this respite care.

Disabled people between the ages of 18 and 65 years or their carers can access respite care through a community care assessment by a social worker. Respite care can be provided from a residential setting, day care setting or personal care and assistance at home to give a carer a break. Enfield Council use resources from the private and voluntary sector.
