Grants to Vacate

Under the home move purchase scheme the local authority will pay a tenant a grant to help them buy their new home. The tenant must give up their property to be eligible for this scheme.

A Grant to Vacate is a payment that could help you buy a home on your own, if you agree to move out of the home you live in now. On commencement of the scheme, tenants can request an information pack which will include an application form. On returning a fully completed form we will process your application based on scheme criteria.

Eligibility
The basic criteria for the scheme are:
• Secure public sector tenant for 2 years or more.
• Clear rent account on receipt of application.
• You must show us that you do not have enough income and savings to buy a home without the help of a grant.
You must demonstrate to us that you can afford to buy a property.

Required Customer Information
• Pay slips (5 weekly or 2 Monthly) or Audited Accounts.
• Bank Statements or Passbooks.
• Mortgage Statements and Estate Agent Valuations (Where applicable).
• Bank Loan Agreements.
• Share Certificates
• Premium Bond Certificates.
• Mortgage Certificates.

Service Level Agreement and Turnaround
2 Days to send out GTV information pack from receipt of enquiry (slip or telephone call).
5 Days to acknowledge receipt of application form and give case reference number.
