Owner Occupier Services – Leaseholder Services

When a council property has been purchased in a leasehold agreement by the tenant the local authority remains responsible for carrying out repairs and maintenance in communal areas and structural and exterior repairs. The leaseholder is expected to contribute a share of the cost.

The council is responsible for the repair and maintenance to the structure, exterior and common parts of the building in which our tenants and leaseholders live, the cost of which is recovered through service charges, detailed on an annual statement and recoverable on a quarterly basis

The Council is responsible for the maintenance of certain areas of estates.  These include:

• communal areas
• communal staircases or corridors
• lifts
• communal gardens
• pathways
• structural and exterior repairs
• foundations to the building
• external walls
• roof
• window frames
• external doors and frames

    • service pipes and ducts

Eligibility:
All leaseholders.
