Land and property - demolitions - council tenants' responsibilities

The tenant is responsible for arranging for meter reading and disconnecting of supplies of gas/electricity and for handing in the keys of vacated property. The council provide advice and support in these circumstances.

If a Council tenant or leaseholder has to move from their home due to demolition work, we will inform them of their responsibilities, such as arranging for disconnection of the gas and electricity supplies. We will provide residents with guidance and support.

Eligibility
Any Council tenant or leaseholder affected by demolition work.

Required Customer Information
Name, address and telephone number.

Service Level Agreement and Turnaround
Any postal or telephone queries made by a tenant or leaseholder will be responded to within 10 working days. Any e-mail queries will be acknowledged within 24 hours and responded to within 10 working days.
