Land and property - demolitions - alternative housing for council tenants
|
Where the demolition of nearby property may pose a risk to tenants in council property the authority may offer the tenant alternative housing either temporarily or on a permanent basis.
Where demolition of nearby property may pose a risk to tenants in council property, the estate manager will ensure that residents are aware of the options available to them. For tenants, this may include a one-way move to another LBE property, or to a housing association property, or a two way move, involving a stay in temporary accommodation. Leaseholders’ homes may be bought back by LBE, with the leaseholder becoming a tenant; they may be bought back by LBE with the leaseholder making their own arrangements for alternative accommodation; or the leaseholder may receive compensation. Residents can contact their estate manager for more detailed information.
