Housing - council - insurance claims

Council tenants may make insurance claims against the council for any damage that the council causes to the tenants' possessions, or injury to the tenant or members of their family. This includes damage caused by contractors working on behalf of the council.

Residents who wish to make an insurance claim against the Council should contact either their District Housing office and speak to an Estate Manager or the Housing Repairs Centre if they wish to make a claim regarding a repair or repairs contractor.

Residents will be asked to put the details of their claim in writing, with dates of the incident, witness contact details if appropriate and any evidence for their claim.

The Councils insurance department will administer any claims against the Council.
