Nursery school places

Dealing with requests for places at primary schools from parents of prospective pupils. Allocation of school places according to Local Authority policy.

Nursery Allocations
In Enfield, children are admitted to nursery classes in the academic year during which they become four and sessions are usually for two and a half hours per day, term time only.

ESAS are responsible for allocating nursery places at community schools within the Borough of Enfield. Places within voluntary aided (church) school nursery classes are allocated by the school themselves. Full information about the admission arrangements in Enfield, including admission criteria for all schools, can be found in the booklet “Applying for a Nursery School in Enfield”.

If it is not possible to offer a school of preference, ESAS include the child’s name on the reserve list of any community school applied for & inform parents of schools with vacancies.

Mid Year Admissions
If a nursery aged child moves into the Borough of Enfield, parents contact ESAS by telephone or in person for advice as to which schools are likely to have a vacancy and the addresses and telephone numbers of local schools. This is also the procedure if families move within the Borough and the child’s primary school nursery class is now too far to travel to.
