Housing - council - current garage arrears

The local authority may decide to automatically repossess the garage where rent arrears rise to an unacceptable level or an account is in arrears for too long.
The council will not tolerate any unpaid rent on garage tenancies. If rent is not paid a Notice to Quit will be served and, at the end of that period of notice (usually 7 days), the council will change the locks and repossess the garage.
If a council tenant applies for a garage for the first time, they must have a clear rent account at the time of an offer being made.
If a tenant had previously rented a garage, which was repossessed by serving an Notice to Quit, the account must be clear for 3 months before they can reapply for another garage. If a garage was repossessed again, the tenant will not be made any further offers of a garage.
If a private resident/leaseholder previously rented a garage, which was repossessed, they will not be made any further offers for a 3 month period.
