Land and property - council lettings - garages

Garages may be available for rent to council tenants, leaseholders and private tenants and a waiting list is usually maintained for these. The authority will process applications and issue rental agreements, which usually include restrictions on the use of the garage.

The Council owns a number of garages on various estates, which are available for rent to residents. Details can be obtained from your estate manager.

Eligibility
Anyone can apply for a garage, but priority is given to Council tenants.

Required Customer Information
Proof of identification; vehicle registration details; insurance company details; insurance policy details; MOT certificate. The customer must also bring their bank details and pay one month’s rent up front and the Council will set up a standing order for them.

Service Level Agreement and Turnaround
Any postal or telephone queries made by a tenant or leaseholder will be responded to within 10 working days. Any e-mail queries will be acknowledged within 24 hours and responded to within 10 working days.
