The local authority is responsible for determining parking regulations (residents and visitor parking) on council property and for enforcement of those regulations.
At the present time there is no parking enforcement on the housing estates in Enfield. Most estates have some parking but it is not allocated to individuals and parking is on a “first come first served” basis.
Estates are regularly inspected and untaxed or abandoned vehicles will be removed as the Council Tenancy and Leasehold Conditions do not allow unroadworthy or untaxed vehicles to be parked on estates.
Written permissions is required from the Housing Office to park caravans, boats, trailers or business vehicles. Some estates are gated and residents can obtain keys to the gates from their Housing Office on proof of residency. Some estates do not allow any commercial vehicles to be parked.
It is possible to rent garages on some estates, and residents wishing to do so should contact their Housing Office to enquire about availability.
There is a weekly charge for renting a garage, and charges vary depending on the tenure of the individual. Residents must produce proof of ownership, insurance and MOT for the vehicle, and garages must not be used for purposes other than storing a motor vehicle.
