Trading standards and food safety officers may offer talks to schools, groups and businesses promoting consumer rights and food safety awareness. Enfield Trading Standards has a very proactive approach to consumer education. Our officers equip consumers with the skills, knowledge and understanding necessary to become effective consumer. We empower consumers to know what to expect when things go wrong, who to complain to and what remedies are available to them. A number of our projects such as Child Safety Week, National Consumer Week take place annually and involve giving talks and presentations to schools, clubs and other community groups within the borough. We also participate in School citizenship days. The work that Trading Standards does is relevant to certain aspects of the Citizenship curriculum and we are happy to assist with talks covering these areas. The talks we give in schools centre around helping young people to develop the knowledge, understanding, attitudes and skills needed to make informed and responsible consumer decisions. We also give talks to businesses within the borough. To request a talk, please write in to the head of Trading Standards with your request, stating what group you represent. Upon receipt of your letter a standard Form will be sent to you requesting further information such as date, venue, time and any topics in particular you would like covered. Eligibility
